Our Shop

Our physical shop Strange Apparitions in Weston (Spalding) stocks a variety of vintage and brand new comic books, with the latest arrivals every Wednesday for new comic book day. We have a range of publishers from the mainstream Marvel comics, DC, Image, Dark Horse, Boom Studios etc to more indie titles, with books available for all age ranges. 

We also love vintage toys and figures, maintaining a rotating selection of items in our cabinets. We mainly specialise in 70's, 80's and 90's such as G1 Transformers, He-Man, Kenner Star Wars, TMNT, Power Rangers, ALIEN, Ghostbusters, Mighty Max & Polly Pocket, Thundercats, GI Joe, MASK, WWF and many more. 

For brand new toys and figures we like to stock collectable pieces that have a fantastic quality or amazing design. In particular we have a wide range of NECA figures with their gorgeously detailed sculpts, and the nostalgic retro inspired Super7 and ReAction figures.

We are an independent shop who welcome all ages and love to chat about all things comics and toys. Whether you are a first time comic reader or a veteran collector, we are happy to offer recommendations or let you browse at your leisure.

Meet the Team

Alexander Hunt - Owner

Alex has been fascinated by comic art, animation and action figures for over 20 years. He has always found all 3 magical, and has a deep respect for the creators behind them. His favourite medium is comics, for their expressionism, versatility and collectability. What he loves most about them is that one person passionate enough can produce every aspect of a comic from start to finish. His favourite creators include Jack Kirby, H.R. Giger, and Dan Clowes among others.  

He graduated from the University of Westminster with a BA in Illustration & Visual Communication, and in 2015 with a MA in Visual Communication with a specialism in illustration and comic art, from the Royal College of Art in London. He has been drawing and self publishing his own comics for 10 years.

With Strange Apparitions, it's Alex's goal to create a friendly environment where people can meet and connect, "growing up, it was always very hard to find anyone else where I lived who were into the same things that I was passionate about" 

When he's not working, Alex enjoys drawing, and petting his two dogs, Pix and Pep.

His favourite toy-line has always been Transformers.

Emma is an international selling artist, who provides the illustrations and design work for SA, as well as helping to organise and host events. She met Alex at University in 2009, and has been annoying him ever since.

She graduated in 2012 from the University of Westminster with a BA in Illustration & Visual Communication, and in 2016 with a MA in Fine Art from Cambridge School of Art.

She works full time as a professional visual artist and illustrator, specialising in traditional painting and drawing techniques and digital colouring. She has both worked with clients and exhibited her art in the UK and internationally. 

When she's not creating, Emma enjoys video games and collecting creepy stuff.
